Blurbs From Rod- “Barriers”

Barriers

“By my God I can leap over a wall” (Psalm 18:29b).

Barriers frustrate. By their very nature they get in the way. They impede progress. They can be discouraging. Sometimes we quit. Our dream, goal, quest, objective…whichever it is, lies abandoned.

What about you? Has it happened that snags or snafus urged you to give up on a project? Me too.

I’ve seen it the other way, too, though. I’ve witnessed determination and grit. The objective and ambition were so powerful that the barrier couldn’t stop the progress; it only amplified one’s quest to prevail.

Barriers offer two amazing benefits. First, they demonstrate the depth of your desire and the resilience of your resolve. When you keep pushing, you show what you’re made of. Second, fighting through the barrier turns what was otherwise simple, easy, and therefore not too gratifying into a complex accomplishment which is deeply satisfying.

Danish poet, philosopher Piet Hein said it this way: “Problems worthy of attack, prove their worth by hitting back.”

Zig Ziglar, motivational speaker, opined: “Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly, as often as it takes to learn to do it well.”

Amen, and amen!

You can be stopped by the seeming size of the barrier, or you can be driven by the desire for the dream. You have a choice; you always do.

Yours for the will to fight through all obstacles,
