Power Within
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7a).
My favorite motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar, tells a story from America’s Midwest. A high school senior high jumper broke the state record at one of his track meets. As a junior he was so-so, lost as it were in the pack. But as a senior, he broken the state record.
Reporters came to him and asked, “How did you make such a dramatic improvement?” His response was simple: “I just threw my heart over the bar, and my body followed.” I hope ‘t’s a true story; it’s just too good not to be! Norman Vincent Peal, another motivational speaker, has used that quote in his writings. But I hope the story about that young man is true.
Here’s why I treasure that hope. My success and attitudes in life are greatly connected to the positive imaginations and affirmations in my heart. And so are yours. What we can “see” as reality is on its way to becoming a reality. Fiction turns to fact through heart-imaging.
If you want to achieve a goal or accomplish a challenging task, God has given you the tool to do it. Look inside, deep inside, and see yourself being successful in that specific goal or task. Two factors are critical: you must see the details of your success and you must believe what you see.
King Solomon said it, “As a man thinks with it himself so is he.” I hope you visualize and achieve many dreams and goals.
